“About 80-90% of my sales on Alibaba.com are helping other businesses create private labels for resale elsewhere. I compete on my service and being a US-based manufacturer/distributor.”
- Shirley Cheung, Founder, EnvyDeal
Shirley Cheung founded her manufacturing and distribution/wholesale business EnvyDeal 20+ years ago. During the first few years, she tried her hand at online retail but then saw she needed to expand her product mix to have the margins she needed to really grow her business. In 2014, she connected with a pharmaceutical company and started manufacturing supplements and white labeling for other businesses.
Initially, she planned on selling her supplements directly to consumers through her website and social channels. But she quickly realized that her strength was B2B, and she wanted to focus on helping other small businesses build their own brand through white labeling. Her differentiator has been the superior service she offers, and her skills in enabling small retailers to succeed.
Shirley had been investing in live trade shows across the US but they were becoming very costly. She knew in order to keep growing her business, she needed a new digital channel to showcase her B2B expertise.
Shirley was introduced to Alibaba.com as a platform for B2B selling in the summer of 2019. Once she signed up, she found the marketplace to be a big improvement over trade shows in terms of developing long-term relationships with her customers. Her customers appreciate that she can guide them through the white labeling process and she has found Trade Assurance to be a great feature to protect herself and her customers.
