“I have been so impressed with the team at Alibaba.com. They've helped me every step of the way and have been so invested in my success.”
Toyiah Marquis' work in the entertainment industry in her youth taught her independence and discipline, and laid the path for her entrepreneurial journey. She opened her first boutique in Chicago in 2006, but closed it soon after because of economic headwinds. It was then that Toyiah noticed e-commerce was becoming more prevalent and so she started Patch Party Club to offer unique patches, enamel pins, and craft accessories that make bold statements.
After seeing success selling on Etsy.com, Toyiah decided to explore B2B e-commerce channels. As a long-time buyer on Alibaba.com, Toyiah was well-versed in the platform but wasn't aware that it was open to US sellers to sell B2B. She strongly believed the platform would give her visibility and credibility in a global market, so she signed up to sell on Alibaba.com in 2020.
Toyiah now receives 100 daily inquiries on Alibaba.com from business buyers in the US and all over the world, and she has hired three people to field these requests from her Chicago headquarters. She is now a four-star supplier on Alibaba.com with her sights set on five stars. Her customers are her biggest passion, and she looks forward to reaching more people on a global scale.
Toyiah also credits the team at Alibaba.com with helping her sell wholesale. "I have been so impressed with the team at Alibaba.com. They've helped me every step of the way and have been so invested in my success," added Toyiah.
