Story

After completing his master's degree in Business (MBA), Mr. Vijayan joined Alibaba.com as an account manager. That was 2015, 2 years before he decided to start his own company on the platform.

Working for Alibaba.com introduced him to the world of export and business, so Vijayan already had insights into how the Alibaba.com platform works.

Also, during his time at Alibaba.com, he witnessed a company join and grow Alibaba.com.

“This company started with nothing, no office or anything, and then joined Alibaba.com. Within seven months, they had grown and improved and already had a showroom,” Vijayan said.

This and many other instances he saw inspired him to start his company, HYPERCRYSTALS, in 2018. HYPERCRYSTALS manufactures home textiles and apparel like curtains, aprons, bed sheets, cushions, blankets, napkins, and pillowcases.

Solution

Vijayan didn’t need any introduction to Alibaba.com's B2B e-commerce platform because he had first-hand experience with how businesses could use it to grow.

“I used to tell customers that don’t go for other platforms, just register on Alibaba.com. So for my business, I only use Alibaba.com.”

Vijayan spends a lot of time on Alibaba.com because he believes that is how to get the best from the platform. He loved that Alibaba.com is user-friendly and has features like RFQs, which allow him to introduce customers to his products. He also uses the Product Posting feature to showcase his products and the messaging center to reply to customers’ inquiries within 2 minutes.

Success

HYPERCRYSTALS got its first major order after 6 months of signing up on Alibaba.com. It was from a customer in the US and before then, Vijayan had gotten some small orders from other customers.

5 years later, Vijayan has expanded the company’s customer base to international countries like the US, the UK, Spain, Australia, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.

In addition, HYPERCRYSTALS currently gets 90% of its revenue from exports and just 10% from domestic sales. Also, 90% of the company’s international customers come from Alibaba.com.

The company's business profile has a 3-star rating, but Vijayan looks forward to a 4-star rating and exploring other features on Alibaba.com. Aside from expanding the company, the businessman is also looking forward to hiring an expert who can manage his Alibaba.com profile so he can focus on other areas of the business.

Vijayan mentioned that he hasn’t tried out any other B2B or B2B platform for his business because he doesn’t know enough about them to try them out. Besides, Alibaba.com works fantastically for him, so “I don’t have a reason to look anywhere else,” the businessman said.

“I always recommend Alibaba.com to my friends. When they want to start a business, I tell them to join Alibaba.com. If you want to start a business, go for Alibaba.com. Be active on Alibaba.com, and things will get better. Post regularly, post RFQs, and reply to inquiries, and you will get there,” Vijayan says.
