Shanghai, October 19, 2023, – Alibaba.com, a leading platform for global business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce, announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ProChile, the Chilean government’s export promotion agency. This signifies the commitment of both organizations to jointly supporting the global trade endeavors of Chilean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Under their collaboration, Alibaba.com and ProChile will work together to extend the necessary digital tools and resources to Chilean SMEs, facilitating their access to global markets and contributing to the Chilean market’s export growth.
The signing ceremony took place at the opening ceremony of Chile Week Shanghai, part of an annual event aimed at fostering cooperation between Chile and China which reached its final destination in Shanghai from October 18 to 20. The three-day event concluded on a high note, showcasing the successful partnership between Alibaba.com and Chilean delegates in promoting global trade and facilitating opportunities for SMEs.
The Chilean delegation, comprised of government officials and business representatives, arrived in Shanghai on October 18. Their visit to Alibaba’s Xuhui Binjiang Park in Shanghai, China, provided them with insights into Alibaba.com’s development history, ecosystem and SME services. The event was completed with meetings between both parties to exchange views and explore collaboration opportunities.
“Alibaba.com remains true to its commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable trade and leveraging digital innovation to create opportunities for SMEs on a global scale. We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm shown by the attending Chilean government officials and business representatives, which we believe demonstrates their recognition of B2B e-commerce as a viable channel to expand the global reach of Chilean products. We look forward to advancing our newly formed collaboration with ProChile to the next level, aiming to help shape the future of global trade for Chilean businesses,” said Tim Song, Head of Global Strategic Partnerships, Global Supplier Development at Alibaba.com.
"For us, this agreement is very important because it will allow us to move forward in the internationalization of our companies and especially of our SMEs. In the recent Chile Week, we met with Alibaba.com in their offices in Shanghai to see the best ways in which we can support them in the incorporation of international trade, in China and in the global market", said Ignacio Fernandez, General Director of ProChile.
