“ I didn't think that I could have some partners from UK maybe. That's why we are pioneer. And I suggest don't afraid, go straight and you will achieve. It is offline. Alibaba.com is all.”
Yorkin Inamov —— CEO of FERGANA EXIM AGRO LLC
Born in Nature, Built for Export
In the capital city of Tashkent, Exim Agro is bringing the authentic taste of Uzbekistan to the world. The company specializes in fresh and freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, with a unique edge: the country’s natural climate. “Uzbekistan has hot days and cold nights,” says CEO Yorkin. “The stress this causes in plants leads to naturally sweeter fruits.” With no added sugar or additives, the products appeal to global buyers seeking clean, high-quality produce. Yet for a long time, the challenge was clear, to reach reliable international markets from a landlocked Central Asian country.
A Fast Start on Alibaba.com
In April 2024, Exim Agro joined Alibaba.com through the World Bank. The company received a sponsored Gold Supplier account, and within one month, landed its first overseas order. By September, Exim Agro had reached a 4-star rating on Alibaba.com. With greater visibility came momentum, more inquiries and more exposure.
Expanding Across Borders
Within months, Exim Agro began exporting to markets across Europe and Asia, including the UK, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus. Japan became the tenth country on the list, with a successful shipment of fresh lemons. It was a particularly complex deal, given the country’s rigorous standards on food safety and certification. Switzerland will soon follow as the eleventh export destination. One of the company’s major breakthroughs was a $9,000 order from Belgium’s largest retail chain—its biggest deal so far. Projections for the following month suggest a volume increase of more than 20 times.
Harnessing Alibaba.com’s AI Tools for Everyday Efficiency
Yorkin highlighted that Alibaba.com’s AI tools play a crucial role in their daily operations, significantly enhancing efficiency by helping the team handle inquiries and manage product information more effectively. As one team member shared:
“Artificial intelligence mainly helps me more when I don't have any ideas or when I haven't logged into Alibaba.com for a long time, as it automatically responds to messages. Secondly, when I add a new product, it collects photos, texts, and keywords. Overall, it helps me a lot with these tasks, and I consider it a very useful tool.”
From Local Vision to Global Confidence
When Exim Agro first launched online, international success felt distant. Today, the company operates in over ten countries, with growing recognition and recurring orders. “We didn’t expect to ship to the UK or Japan. Now we do,” Yorkin reflects. His advice to other small businesses is clear, start early, focus on product quality, and take that first step. For Exim Agro, Alibaba.com has become not just a platform, but a bridge between local opportunity and global demand.
